Firstly…if you are not going to click then it’s silly joining lots of Cashback sites. I personally would just join 3, that way you can compare them against each other. 2 years ago there was only a couple of sites that offered 100% Cashback, but since then many more have joined the band wagon. Although they are all free to join, most of the 100% Cashback sites do deduct a yearly £5 Admin fee from your Cashback. If you are reading this now…you are thinking…. Ok Kate…so what 3 would you recommend? Well I would definitely join Topcashback (this site does not deduct an Admin Fee) and is free to join and does offer 100%. (Plus the more you spend…the more Cashback you receive (Top-ups). The second site that I would suggest would be Quidco. This site has a huge following, offers 100% but does deduct a yearly £5 Admin Fee. Sometimes Quidco may offer slightly higher Cashback…but not always. i.e If Topcashback was offering me £60 cashback on my Car Insurance and Quidco was offering £70 it would be worth my while using Quidco and forfeiting the £5 Admin charge. The majority of the time the 100% Cashback sites offer the same Cashback but the reason they can offer more is that the affiliate companies may give £60 if 100 make the purchase and £70 if 200 do etc. I think this is why Topcashback have introduced ‘Top-ups’ Topcashback and Quidco have a huge following. The 3rd site is your choice! GiveorTake is worth a look. Cashbackkings is another good one and so are Getpoundsback,Cashback Rewards and Cashback Network. All these 5 are Free to join but deduct a yearly £5 Admin fee from your Cashback. Getpoundsback, Cashback Rewards and Cashback Network do not have so many members so if you have a Cashback earnings query, you do get that personal touch. With the larger sites, if you submit an earnings query you will normally get an automated response and if you are new to Cashback you may worry that your problem is not being resolved. Getpoundsback pays out well on ‘Daily Clicks’ too…(I did promise myself that I was not going to mention the ‘click’ word whilst I was telling you about moneysaving, but unfortunately I could not help myself.)
Anyway…back on track!
Without confusing you too much, another site to consider as a ‘Moneysaver’ would be either Cashbackchief or Cashbackcascade, both owned by the same person, both offer 100%, both are free and do not deduct an Admin Fee…and lastly have that special personal touch. The main rule is to compare the Cashback you are being offered. Ok…So you have joined 3 sites and now you want to buy a High School Musical 3 for your daughter and Skate 2 PS3 game for your son. This is what I would do. I could use ‘Google’ to see what searches came up but I have a favourite little site I like to use. http://www.billybargain.co.uk/
Now Billy is clever because he will do the searching for you and if you click through to the retailer that Billy says is the cheapest price and make your purchase, then Billy will receive your Cashback! Very Clever! Rule No 1…if you click through to the retailer, please don’t let Billy have your Cashback. I always mutter ‘thank-you’ under my breath to Billy for finding me the cheapest deal but once he has done that, I will run ‘Ccleaner’ or manually clear my cookies before I use a Cashback site to make my purchase. So Billy tells me that the cheapest price for HSM 3 is Tesco at £11.96, followed by Amazon £11.98, HMV £11.99 and Play.com £11.99. The Hut, a site that I regularly get Cashback it is £13.98. All of those retailers you can get Cashback on although Amazon is limited to just a few sites now. Before I check which Cashback site I am going to use and which retailer is cheapest after Cashback I will check to make sure there are no additional discounts to be found on the Internet. http://www.myvouchercodes.co.uk/index2.php?gclid=CN_P7rXm8pgCFQsyQgodrXqy1g
You will be surprised how many times you can find additional money off codes. Just remember to not let ‘Myvouchercodes’ have your Cashback! Clear your cookies before you use the Cashback site to make your purchase! Also worth having a quick nose at Martin Lewis’s forum http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?s=0cad0c1adf84e9e57e340acfd4a3f3e3&f=38
On this occasion I could not find any additional money off and have decided that the retailer that I get the best deal from with Cashback is Tesco. Just a quick comparison Topcashback will give 5% Cashback and Quidco 7%.
Hardly anything in it on a small purchase, plus you would need to think about the yearly admin fee and also remember ‘Top-ups’
Ok….. Now for Skate 2. A quick visit to Billy tells me that Tesco is the cheapest place again! £17.93 This is not always the case, tomorrow ‘Amazon’ may be cheaper. When I purchased Skate 2 a month ago for my son it was literally the same price everywhere at £39.99, so I chose to purchase from ‘Game’ and got 10% Cashback from Topcashback. (received £4.28 (28p was ‘Top-up')
Just a quick tip…. Skate 2 was on pre-order and my son was desperate.to get it …and he did, the day before release! When ordering a pre-order from Game, don’t pay extra for ‘Next Day’ delivery as they do not post until the day before release. If you accept the standard next day delivery they actually post 2 days before to guarantee that you receive on release day and 9 times out of 10 you will actually receive the day before.
Car insurance… I always do my homework first and find the best deal, before I make my purchase via a Cashback site. GoCompare and Confused.com are clever like Billy and want your Cashback so just be careful when using them. Also with regards to Car Insurance…remember that Voluntary Excess is additional to the Policy Excess, so I normally get quotes based as ‘0’ or min £50. I also have a Yahoo and Hotmail email addy that I use when obtaining quotes and only use my main email when I actually make my purchase through the Cashback site Don’t forget to clear your cookies before you use the Cashback site to make your purchase.
Just one more example. My friend wanted a pram from Mothercare that was on special offer. I searched online and could not beat Mothercare’s price, but I did manage to find a £10% off voucher code. So I ordered my friend the pram, it was free delivery. Pram instore was £349.95 Online it was £349.95 – 10% off code = £315.00 Plus £22 cashback ! So my friend saved £56.95 !
I hope this is all makes sense but if you are not sure on anything just email me, I’m always happy to help anyone.
